Entries Open For The Burnie Thousands

The North Western Kart Club still has one major race meeting for the Tasmanian karters to race at before we have a slight break over the christmas and new year period.

Take 2 on The Cowbiz Stockfeeds Burnie Thousands, Saturday the 12th of December, proudly supported by the following Businesses, Cowbiz Stockfeeds, Spreyton Cider/Spreyton Fresh, Fresh Freight, Campbells Betta Home Living Burnie and Fulton Enterprises.

As most are aware this race meeting was scheduled to run back in March but had to be postponed due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

The Burnie Thousands is steeped in history, first ran back in 1976 and running through until 1999. The quality of drivers who have won and got on the podium of this event through its history is a who’s who of Tasmanian karting history and a few mainland names as well. Supercar Champion Marcos Ambrose, Targa winner Jason White have both won the event and current NWKC member Shane Stonehouse won it way back in 1987 and got on the podium in his first season in seniors in 1979.

When the event first started it was for the International and Reed Classes and in 1986 it switched to the Clubman classes running at a pro weight. Phil Jacobs won the event 4 times, Drew Price 3 times, R Hunter 3 times(three peat) Jason Wyllie twice(back to back)
